Mindfulness Retreat: Cultivate Calm and Presence
This retreat offers clear and supportive guidance in mindfulness meditation and yoga, held within a calm and steady rhythm. Set within the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada, it is a more social retreat that invites you to slow down, step out of your daily routine, and reconnect with yourself, nature and others. Through this one week journey, you will find the space to soften tension, and return to a more calm and clear state of mind.
The daily practice is designed to settle both body and mind. Morning sessions focus on the breath through Hatha Yoga and Pranayama, followed by guided Shamatha (calm abiding) meditation. Throughout the day, we integrate a longer guided shamatha meditation at noon and a healing restorative Yin Yoga + meditation practice in the evening to help the body release deep-seated tension. For the night, we enjoy noble silence from 8:00 p.m. until the morning’s Yoga class.
In this retreat, we include a mindful walk in Tayrona National Park or another sacred local site on Wednesdays. This is a chance to practice being present while moving and to connect with the land in a direct, simple way. Whether you are new to meditation or just want to get back to the basics, you are warmly welcome to join us.
“A great experience and probably the best option, especially for beginners, to create an excellent foundation for meditation and yoga.” — Peter Feser

Embark on a profound exploration of the meditative path through this immersive retreat, centered on vipassana (insight) and shamatha (calm abiding) meditation. Meditation is supported by daily Q&A sessions, noble silence, tibetan breathwork, and Hatha yoga to relax and strengthen both body and mind.
Our approach to vipassana, rooted in the Dudjom Tersar lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, encourages a direct and compassionate awareness of experience as it is. Rather than trying to become someone new, the practice invites a deeper connection with your natural state of clarity, presence, and inner wisdom. Noble silence is observed throughout the retreat, with exceptions during classes and personal time from 2 pm to 5 pm. For those who wish to remain in complete silence for the entire week, this is also possible.
The retreat concludes with a traditional Tibetan fire puja on the beach on the final evening — a symbolic ceremony of purification, offering, and renewal, held in the spirit of Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
Guided by Pema, founder of Senda Loto, along with our experienced mindfulness and yoga teachers, this retreat offers an opportunity for deep inner growth and spiritual awakening through authentic teachings from the Dudjom Tersar lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Whether you’re ready to deepen your practice or are new but feel drawn to this path, we happily welcome you to join us.
